The Dumazulu Lodge comprises of 21 X 8m diameter huts all constructed in the style of the different tribes that make up our land such as South Sotho, Ndebele, Zulu, North Sotho, Xhosa etc.
The interior of the huts are tiled, airconditioned and have been recently refurbished.
The units are based on a studio layout consisting of two single beds which can be pushed together and a day bed. Ten of the units are already self-catering, the remaining 11 units still need to be converted to self-catering.
A pool area and jungle gym is located close to the units. The main reception building houses the Resort Manager’s office.
The property is 50 acres which includes a working crocodile farm, snake park and cultural village as well as a 250 seater restaurant and bar.
The village boasts a curio shop which generates a decent income.
The cultural village is a working authentic zulu village with shield making, bead work, zulu dancing, spear making, sangoma, beer making and all other activities associated with traditional village life.
All the village participants are dressed in true ethnic attire. Access is approximately 2kms off the N2 on a dirt road and is well sign-posted. Alternatively access from Hluhluwe is approximately 10kms on dirt road.
The Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Game Reserve is located 33kms from the resort.This is a big five reserve
Staff accommodation comprises of an A-frame two bedroom two bathroom house, a three bedroom prefabricated house with a granny cottage, 5 single quarters with bedroom, shower room and lounge/ kitchenette. The staff quarters comprises of 18 single rooms, there are separate ablutions for the dancers. An undercover dance area is available in the case of rain. An additional one bedroom house has been constructed for the use of the village chief. 21 staff members reside in the village itself. The resort has a total staff complement of 40. Furthermore, two single rooms for the driver guides are available.
The entire property is fenced by way of an 18 strand electrified system, water is pumped from a borehole into two 35,000l tanks. Electricity is powered by Eskom and the sewerage operates by means of septic tanks.
A generator capable of running the whole lodge is located on site, in the event of a power outage
