Hateg Country- Tara Hategului is one of the most beautiful areas in Romania, situated at the foot of the The Retezat Massif. It’s a protected area added on the UNESCO Romania’s World Heritage tentative list for its plant diversity, endemism and rich fauna. Here you can find mountains pastures for sheep breeding and dense forests almost untouched- The Retezat National Park- one of the last intact forests on Earth and the last of its kind in Europe. The landscape is at a small scale as in the entire Transylvania- a big amphitheater that runs down from mountains over 2,200 meters to the lowlands inhabited at 300-400 m altitude. B
You find here the calm of the country, pure air, rich vegetation including forests, grasslands, along with the village people that never lock their houses and backyards. The access is very easy by a paved road at a distance of 7 km from the E79 European road, 19 km away from the nearest town Hateg- and 40 km from Petrosani.
